Jones scored over 1,700 points while playing for the legendary coach John McLendon at North Carolina Central College. Following his collegiate career, Sam teamed with K.C. Jones on the Boston Celtics to create one of the most dynamic backcourts in NBA history. He helped lead the Celtics to 10 NBA Championships, eight of them consecutively from 1959 to 1966. Jones scored over 15,000 points in his NBA career. In 1996 he was named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.
