George L. Mikan Player
Inducted in 2006
Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee 1959
At 6-foot-10, Mikan was college basketball's first great "big man" and literally changed the way the game was played. He introduced the hook shot to the game and brought attention to the previously uneventful center position. Mikan led DePaul University in Chicago to the 1945 NIT Championship. He was twice named the Collegiate Player of the Year.
