During his collegiate career, Ray Meyer captained the Notre Dame team coached by Hall of Famer George Keogan. He then became a coaching legend at Chicago's DePaul University, coaching from 1942 to 1984. Meyer's teams achieved 37 winning seasons and twelve 20-win seasons, including seven straight from 1978 to 1984. He guided his nationally-ranked Blue Demons to 21 postseason appearances (13 NCAA, 8 NIT). Meyer was highly respected for his integrity and the family atmosphere he created at DePaul. He was named the United States Basketball Writers' Coach of the Year in 1978 and the NABC Coach of the Year in 1979.
