BIO
Nicknamed "The Kangaroo Kid", this 6-foot-5 All-American was a dominant offensive player for Hall of Fame coach Everett Dean. With his extraordinary leaping ability and deadly jump shot from the corner, he helped lead Stanford to the 1942 NCAA Championship. After World War II, he became a two-time AAU All-American. Later, with the NBA's Minneapolis Lakers, he joined fellow Hall of Fame teammates George Mikan and Vern Mikkelsen to form one of the best NBA frontcourts ever. He was a four time NBA All-Star. In 1952, the Basketball Association of America named Pollard the best player of the era.
