After earning a reputation as an exciting player at Washington High School in North Carolina, Wilkins went on to attend the University of Georgia. He lived up to his reputation during his college career averaging 21.6 points and 7.5 rebounds a game and receiving First-Team All-America honors as a junior. Leaving the Bulldogs after his junior year, Wilkins was selected third overall in the 1982 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. He became a nine time NBA All-Star and was selected seven times to the All-NBA team, scoring over 25,000 points in his pro career.
